A short Autobiography
I  was  born  in  Madrid,  Spain.  The  second  son  of  Panamanian parents expanding their education in another country, both in the field of chemistry. I  was  brought   to   Panama  to live with my grandparents when I was two months old, my parents had to go back to Spain to finish their degrees. By  the  time they came back I didn't know who  they  were and  the  word  mom  was reserved for grandma, which would break my mother's heart.

My first drawing must have been  when I was three
or   four ...  maybe  earlier.  Being  both  my  parents
chemists, chances  were  I would  end  up   being a
chemist  too.  Yuck! No offense to chemists,  it  just
isn't  my  drill.  In  defense of my chemical parents I
must say there was plenty of chemistry in my family,
literally. But I took a different path.

The  dream of animation started at an early age when
I saw my cousin Felix doing amazing things  flipping
the  pages  of  a  note  book. Well ,  it's not really that
amazing ,  but  it   was  to  me.  So  I  made  my  first
animation  at  age  ten ,   and   by  age  thirteen I was
animating Michael Jordan and G I Joe scenes on  the  pages  of  my school books. I have to confess I was more interested in animation than Social Studies or History.

Panama  is  not exactly the Shangrilah of the Entertainment Industry, so at the time I chose my career, animation was not on the map. But the universe works in strange ways and the dream  patiently  followed  me  even  when  my  eyes  were open  to reality. For me, reality became Architecture. I got a job at an Architecture firm even before I finished my degree. I was  really  good  at  it.  I  still  do  some  architecture  in  my  country  of  origin, but that's a different story.

A  young Panamanian company was entering the world of animation
and I was in the right place at the right time. They were interested in
my  talent  as a cartoonist and they asked me if I could do animation.
"Sure"- I  said.  Who  would refuse to see a dream come true. By the
way,  if  you  have  read  all the way to this line you are really cool. I
appreciate it.

So, I started as a freelance 2D animator and later hired full time. 3D
animation  came  along almost instantly as well as post effects and
compositing.  I  have  been  doing  this since 1995 and  I  love  it.
I  am proud to say I was one of the pioneers of animation in Panama
and  in  many  ways  my  work  changed  Panama's  TV industry and
helped build the path for a whole new generation of animators. This
is not my job; this is what I am. Well, it's also my job but what a way to make a living.

I managed to balance my artistic diet by including other
forms of art. I have formal studies in  music  and  have
been  playing  guitar  for  22  years.  I  also practice the
martial  art  of  aikido,  where  I  hold the rank of brown
belt. I read about  science ,  culture , politics and Zen.
Still reading?  You are way cool! My perspective of life
is  often  different  from that of those who surround me,
but I respect  what  you  think  as  long  as you respect
my  philosophy.  There  is  plenty  of  room for different
                                                         opinions.

A  few  years  ago, a  beautiful American woman went down to Panama. To make the story short she is now my wife and pulled me all the way to the wonderful and always challenging New York City. Just when I thought the dream was accomplished I find myself in this exciting place. My  Dream  never abandoned me.
